Primary Purpose of Job Under the direction of the Maintenance Area Lead, this position is responsible for training, coaching, and motivating hourly crafts personnel to provide reliable equipment consistent with customer quality and delivery requirements. Direct reports include a group of hourly personnel assigned to their area and shift. The incumbent communicates continually with the Engineering and EHS Departments, as well as with Control Technicians and Maintenance Leads. Externally, they communicate with vendors and contractors. Accountability Objectives Responsibilities include but are not limited to: <ul><li>Coaching, supervising, and training skilled craftspeople, apprentices, and laborers in the repair and maintenance activities associated with their assigned shift and area.&nbsp;</li><li>Assuming single point accountability for maintenance activities during their respective shift.&nbsp;</li><li>Performing frontline troubleshooting activities on equipment in area of responsibility.</li><li>Directing safety awareness programs to manage workforce safety, maintain housekeeping, and assist the Operations Department in area safety analysis.&nbsp;</li><li>Coordinating PM and other outage activities for equipment in area of responsibility.&nbsp;</li><li>Planning daily activities for assigned maintenance crews and provide the tools, materials, and technical direction for normal maintenance, preventative maintenance, and capital work in area of responsibility.&nbsp;</li><li>Performing root cause analysis and “5-why” techniques to eliminate maintenance downtime.&nbsp;</li><li>Partnering with the Engineering Department on repetitive maintenance problems to continuously improve the reliability of responsible equipment and facilities.&nbsp;</li><li>Coordinating and managing the development of maintenance work procedures and standard practices to maximize quality work and eliminate waste.&nbsp;</li><li>Driving continuous improvement activities to eliminate all waste, especially as it relates to maintenance downtime, safety, work practices, and employee involvement.&nbsp;</li><li>Assisting other Maintenance Supervisors, as needed.&nbsp;</li><li>Managing applicable labor issues effectively within respective work area.</li><li>Performing administrative requirements to effectively manage work force.&nbsp;</li><li>Performing other duties as assigned.&nbsp;</li></ul> Basic Qualifications For this position to be successful, the incumbent should have: <ul><li>A High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.&nbsp;</li><li>Minimum 3 years of maintenance supervisory experience within a heavy manufacturing environment or a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience in the Military.</li><li>Minimum 1 year of experience in a unionized work environment.&nbsp;</li><li>This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. The supervisor role is the first level of authority in the Tooling Business Center providing leadership, coaching and clear direction to ensure people are working safely, meeting customer demand, solving problems, eliminating waste and meeting goals. Tooling Manufacturing Supervisor - 1st Shift

Howmet Aerospace Structures Systems, a forging facility located at 1600 Harvard Ave., is seeking an Operations Supervisor to join its Operations Department. Under the direction of an Area Manager, this position is the first level of authority in the workplace by providing leadership, coaching, and clear direction to ensure that the hourly workforce is working safely, meeting customer demands, solving problems, eliminating waste, and meeting goals. Direct reports include the incumbent’s respective area’s and shift’s hourly reports.
